What will I need for references
Three references; two work and one character plus agreeing to a police check and a credit check

Business outside TradeSkills
This is acceptable, but the more you do for us the better TradeSkills works for you.

Paperwork
Minimal - we recognise most guys do not like paperwork, get out and do what you do well

Costs
A joining fee which will cover the cost of you joining. Liability insurance is a must (which we can supply at very compeditive rates). There is an annual registration fee to cover new cards, clothing etc. We get paid a commission based on results, after you get paid by the client. If together we do not provide a result, neither of us get paid.

Financial
You have no advertising costs. You can be out working while we find clients. Part of a network. We have a wide range of discounts from insurance, direct paint buying from manufacturers, suppliers, fuel cards and much more. Getting work from a referral or repeat customer tends to be a lot easier.

Monitor your work
Yes we do. Quality control is of absolute importance to us and our clients. We are not budget builders and do not offer the cheapest price, we leave that to the cowboys. We have high standards of professionalism and expect you to maintain them.

Clothing and signage
We supply cards, some clothing and signage.

Options available for you
Very wide and will depend on your skill base. We like to sit down and work out where you will be in about 2 year’s time and work towards that (provided it is feasible, we haven’t produced any All Blacks!)

Contract
Yes there is one, the conditions are flexible but we do not renegotiate or change it. You will have plenty of time to go over it.

What we expect from you
See previous points plus we expect frank discussions on your work load and where you are up to. We can only service your needs if you communicate well with us. You must also have a cell phone and a messaging system on the home phone. Being on line (email) is a great advantage to us all, but not necessary.

Equipment
You will supply your own.

Do I have to accept all the work sent my way?
Absolutely not. No is the most important word in this business. If you are too busy, the job does not suit you, you are not happy with the client etc send it back, but you are expected to do so promptly. Do not agree to any commitment you cannot fulfil . Be up front with saying No and we will back you. We can then go back to the client and provide them with what they want.

What else do we supply as well as some great deals:
You can be part of a team on some jobs. Other tradesmen are available if you need them. We also provide support if any issues arise with a client. The clients are vetted by us and we aim to provide quality leads. By identifying with TradeSkills, most service providers find jobs are much easer to get. We also supply business cards, invoice books, car signage, uniform, and lots of advice which is all included in the joining fee.

Communication
Vital, call us any time. It is great if we can e-mail work to you but you need someone regularly (daily) checking the e-mails.

Entity
You will be a self employed contractor to us and should be GST registered.

Where will I work?
We try to fit in with your requirements wherever possible, in order to reduce travel costs (and time).

Will I be successful?
That is up to you. The reality is that, because we get paid last, our business is only as successful as yours. We will work with you, to do what it takes to make sure your business works well for you.
